A Moment Held in Time
Every twenty-four hours, a new day unfolds. Every seven days, a new week. And so on and on. Every page leads to a new chapter, and every new chapter invites us into more of who we already are if we're in alignment with our true selves.
When I reflect on little girl Jane, I was always into the planet. The sky has always fascinated me. I'm so thrilled to be on this beautiful journey of connecting with the planet. I recently got a degree in nutrition and wellness, not to practice at a center, but to learn as much as I can and to be able to share that knowledge with my family. Like knowing how to develop herbal tea recipes and learning more about and honoring our nervous system. The planet truly offers such beautiful teas and collaborates with us to bring or keep our nervous system at baseline, like grounding. I want to be able to share knowledge with friends.
At first, I thought I would just keep my online content the same, but that's not how organically growing works when it's authentic. The transition happens naturally in all areas. That being true, I started thinking,
Hmmm ... what beautiful letters to be able to write for my supporters to be able to unfold. Letters of connecting with the planet, of growing, learning, and unlearning. Letters of what wellness truly is and what it means.
I truly believe everyone should learn about the nervous system and different pillars of wellness. I am so happy that I have learned what I've learned, and I'm still learning. Of course, I knew a lot about wellness before; however, I've gained so much knowledge along the way. I want to always study by tuning in to the planet and reading different books. To always be a student of Earth and life.
A Student of Wellness.
I am still learning. It is a decision that I am super proud of. I know I haven't shared new recipes in a while. I want to lean into this moment of learning more about wellness slowly.
I would love to share letters on the power of words - they can build up or even have the ability to tear down. I keep going back to sharing what I'm learning about the nervous system. Oh my! That's a big one! There have been times in my life when I just ignored my nervous system. Not intentionally. I don't anymore. We must honor it. For example, if someone calls you to invite you somewhere and you feel it won’t be uplifting or enjoyable, you can respectively decline the invitation. Studying the nervous system opens your eyes to a whole new perspective. I remember in the tenth grade, the teacher gave different scenarios and asked the class to answer. I remember the teacher saying I was closer to the answer. One of my classmates to my right said, "Jamie, you almost got the exact answer as the teacher."
This moment of studying wellness feels like a full-circle moment. I've always had an interest in wellness, but it's elevated now. I just have to get out of my own way by not overthinking as much as I do at times. I want to cover many different topics, but then I overthink my way out of it. In those moments when my thinking keeps going on and on like the Energizer Bunny, I get still and do a meditation practice that allows me to view my thoughts as clouds that are just passing me by. I don't have to grab on to every cloud. Only the ones that matter. I have always loved to listen to storytellers. Mama was my introduction to the beautiful world of storytelling. She always shared her life stories and lessons, then concluded each one with a jewel. Storytellers are not limited to writers. It's anyone with the ability to lift someone's mood and help them to see things from their perspectives. They have the ability to invite you into their story as they're telling it.

Moments Under the Pecan Tree.
I love seeing the happiness and joy on my children's faces. I call them my heartbeats. I am so blessed and proud to have given birth to them. They are beautiful and amazing, kind and thoughtful, generous, wise, curious, all things beautiful. I can go on and on.
They wanted to pick pecans from their maw maw and paw paw's pecan tree. I joined them. Maw maw came outside to watch. I captured those beautiful moments. Those are moments we cherish. Moments that matter.
I remember back in the late 80's. It must've been '89, maybe even 1990. We had a pecan tree in our backyard. I too wanted to pick pecans. I was outdoors filling up the huge brown paper bag with pecans. I brought the bag inside, placed it right in front of the television, staring at how many Mama and I had just picked, then BOOM! The grapevine commercial came on. All I had to see were those dancing raisins. I took off! LOL!! I was crying and knocked over the bag of pecans trying to get out of the way.
My beautiful mama walked into the room to comfort me. She always had a way of making me feel better immediately.
I thought of her while standing under the pecan tree with my hubby, my babies, and their maw maw. Mama and I under the pecan tree was once a present moment that's now a memory. My family standing under Maw Maw and Paw Paw's big, beautiful pecan tree is already a memory, and it was a moment we shared just recently. But as time goes on, that memory will get even sweeter. Cherished moments age beautifully, secure in a space in our hearts we get to own forever.
I would also like to add that Maw Maw is a 2x breast cancer survivor. She had it once when my hubby was a little boy, and then a few years ago. She held on to her strength, her courage, and her unwavering Faith, and still does beautifully! Oh yes! We are super proud!
I love seeing the happiness and joy on my children's faces. I call them my heartbeats.
Jewel For Today
That pecan tree is on the same land Maw Maw was on as a little girl. Family land. She was once a little girl by that pecan tree. That day, one of her sons, her daughter (she doesn't say law. She calls me her daughter.), and her grandchildren were under the same pecan tree.
Did you know a pecan tree can live up to 300 years, towering up to over 150 feet? That means it gets to cover generations of family gathering around and under it to harvest its offering.
What a grand experience!
